Dr Stephen Cannon-Brookes is principal of CBL (Cannon-Brookes Lighting), a specialist lighting consultancy. His work is focused on lighting for museums and historic buildings as well as privately owned collections. Use of light in such environments requires careful and detailed integration of appearance and performance to create solutions tailored to the individual requirements of each project. With close links to several University departments, his Practice draws directly on ongoing research in daylight modelling and lighting conditions suitable for the conservation of historic materials.
On 4 March 2014 Dr Stephen Cannon-Brookes delivered About Museum and Exhibition Lighting lecture at the White Hall of State Museum of the Political History of Russia.
From 27 of November till 2 of December Dr Stephen Cannon-Brookes was a head of the workshop on museum lighting for students of the St Petersburg University of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
