Dr. Mikhail Kalyakin, Dr. Sci. (Biol.) is Director of the Zoological Museum of the Lomonosov Moscow State University. Dr. Kalyakin graduated from the Department of Biology of the Moscow State University. He has been working at the Zoological Museum since 1985, holding Director’s position since 2009. In the end of the 1980s he worked at the Soviet- (Russian-) Vietnam Tropical Research Centre in Vietnam where he studied birds in tropical forest ecosystems and still today he participates in short-term expeditions organized by the center. In 1999 Mikhail Kalyakin earned PhD degree in Biology, in 2008 he defended his doctoral dissertation presenting his research on results of trophic adaptation of the South-East Asian passerines.
On 17 May 2016 Mikhail Kalyakin delivered “Museum Molting” – What Could It Mean? lecture at the PRO ARTE Foundation.
